As part of its summer open-air cinema programme, this special double screening brings together two films connected through memory, family, and the traces people leave behind. The evening opens with A Portrait of Ga (1952), the intimate documentary portrait created by Margaret Tait, before continuing with Joanna Hogg’s acclaimed The Eternal Daughter (2022), a haunting and deeply personal story starring Tilda Swinton in a dual role. Eric Liot: Excavating the Contemporary

At P Gallery Sculpture in Kolonaki, French artist Eric Liot presents a striking exhibition that brings together the worlds of classical antiquity and contemporary culture. Through what he describes as “inverted archaeology,” Liot reconstructs imagined relics using raw wood, bronze, and industrial materials, transforming iconic ancient forms into sculptural works that feel both timeless and unmistakably modern. From references to Hellenistic masterpieces to unexpected encounters between mythological figures and contemporary heroes, the exhibition explores how societies build, preserve, and reinterpret their collective memory. Thought-provoking and visually powerful, it offers a fresh perspective on the relationship between the past and the present.

AEF2026: Hip Hop Battle & All Styles Battle

The Athens Epidaurus Festival celebrates 20 years at Pireos 260 with a summer programme filled with contemporary performance, music, dance, and artistic experimentation. Among its most energetic highlights is the 6th Athens Festival Urban Dance Contest, dedicated to the vibrant world of street dance. Bringing together leading dancers from Greece and abroad, the event transforms the open-air Platea into a stage for explosive Hip Hop and All Styles battles, where creativity, rhythm, and improvisation take centre stage. The DJ set takes place on the railway platform, overlooking the venue’s vintage carriages where the raw beauty of the space and the energy of the audience become part of the experience.

STEGI.RADIO: Live From The Park

Pedion tou Areos, a green oasis in the heart of Athens becomes the ultimate open-air music destinations as STEGI.RADIO returns with a free festival of DJs, live sets, and EDM sounds. During the line up STEGI.Radio is expected to bring together more than 60 musicians and producers who will elevate the experience with their musical influences. Music genres move across electronic, house, jazz, funk, soul, experimental sounds, and international music scenes, creating a soundtrack for long summer nights in the city’s largest park. This year’s edition also features collaborations with Brussels’ Kiosk Radio and New York’s The Lot Radio, adding an international dimension to an event that celebrates music and the simple pleasure of gathering outdoors.

In Dialogue with Alekos Fassianos

The Alekos Fassianos Museum is currently presenting one of its most compelling exhibitions of the season: Malvina Panagiotidi: Bucolic Fever. In Dialogue with Alekos Fassianos. Curated by Ioanna Piperigos, the show brings together a body of newly commissioned, site-specific works that grew out of Panagiotidi’s deep research into a lesser-known corner of Fassianos’s legacy, his work in design. The result is a fluid, almost dreamlike landscape where art and object blur, the everyday turns poetic, and hybrid forms move freely between the human, the natural, and the imaginary. If you have been looking for an exhibition that rewards slow looking, this is it. Supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, it is part of the museum’s ongoing Contemporary Intervention Program, a series that invites contemporary Greek artists into creative conversation with Fassianos’s world.

Inspiration: Ancient Greek Art in Italy

Running through August 30 at the Acropolis Museum, Inspiration: Ancient Greek Art in Italy is the kind of exhibition that reminds you why Athens remains one of the great cultural destinations in the world. Marking the museum’s 17th anniversary, the show brings together 38 works in ceramic, bronze, and marble on loan from some of Italy’s finest museums, and admission is completely free. At its heart is a question that has fascinated historians for centuries: how did a conquered civilization end up shaping its conquerors so completely? The answer lies in the famous words of the Roman poet Horace, “Captive Greece captured her conqueror,” a phrase that still rings true when you stand before these objects and trace the thread running from ancient Greek workshops through Etruscan hands and into the heart of Roman society. The exhibition follows that thread all the way into the modern era, showing how Italian artists and collectors kept returning to Greek art long after the ancient world had passed. It is, as the organizers describe it, a cultural gift from Italy to Greece, and it feels like exactly that.

If your weekend plans are still open, Knack & Snack is hosting a summer bazaar this Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, from 2pm to 11pm at Persefonis 7 that is worth checking out. Whether you arrive before the beach, roll in after with salt still in your hair, or skip the sea entirely in favour of a slower city afternoon, the atmosphere promises to deliver. Local makers will be set up with jewellery, ceramics, candles, accessories, and home scents, the kind of carefully made things you want to take home. There will be cold drinks to keep you going and authentic Neapolitan pizza so you can make a day of it.

Margins of Collapse

Curated by Dinos Chatzirafailidis and running through August 29, the show brings together seven artists working across painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and works on paper, all circling the same unsettling territory- the moment just before things give way. The exhibition itself is spatially alive, unfolding across compressed and open rooms where balance always feels provisional, and where some works treat the architecture as already compromised. Participating artists are Stelios Kallinikou, Andreas Ragnar Kassapis, Athina Koumparouli, Christian Lagata, Irini Miga, Cezary Poniatowski, and Evangelia Spiliopoulou.

Summer Lunch at Beefbar 

Summer lunches are back at Beefbar Athens, so if you’ve been looking for a reason to head down to the Riviera this weekend, this is it. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm, the restaurant is offering its Experience Menu at €85 per person, a set that moves through some of the kitchen’s signature dishes. Expect a Dakos that arrives with cherry, sundried, and confit tomatoes, carob rusk, and Greek cheese, followed by a mango ceviche with sea bream marinated in citrus leche de tigre, mango sauce, jalapeño, and coriander oil. Set facing the Vouliagmeni peninsula with the sea directly in front of you, the meats are sourced exclusively by Riccardo Giraudi and served simply grilled, raw, or in street food style, depending on what the season calls for.

Potidania Film Festival Warm Up

Before the Potidania Film Festival heads to the mountains, it is throwing a warm-up in Athens. On June 20 at Spook cafe, the day kicks off at noon with a bazaar, before sliding into an aperitivo and DJ set from Giorgos Vlachos at 7pm. By 9pm, film selections are screening alongside a party set from DJ Freestone. For the uninitiated, Potidania Film Festival is a short film festival built around the idea of bringing life back to a picturesque mountainous village in Greece, and the Athens warm-up carries the same spirit, good films, good people, and a drink in hand. When: Saturday 20 June | A: Dimofontos 10, Athens 

Korolova at Bolivar Beach Club

Few artists have risen through the melodic techno scene as quickly as Korolova, who was voted as one of the 50 best djs in the world. Known for her emotionally charged sets and cinematic soundscapes, the Ukrainian DJ and producer arrives at Bolivar Beach Club for a night that promises soaring melodies, hypnotic rhythms, and a dance floor soundtrack built for the open air. Having performed at some of the world’s leading electronic music festivals and venues, she has become one of the defining names of the genre’s new generation.
