Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at Release Athens

If there’s one concert music lovers won’t want to miss in Athens this summer, it’s Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Jones at Plateia Nerou for Release Athens 2026.Τhe awarded Australian musician and his acclaimed band return as part of the Wild God Tour, bringing their signature blend of intensity, vulnerability and poetic storytelling to the Athenian waterfront. For more than four decades, Cave has crafted songs that move between darkness and transcendence, earning a place among the most influential voices in contemporary music. Backed by the ever-evolving Bad Seeds, his performances are renowned for their emotional power and rare connection with audiences. The evening will revisit defining moments from across the band’s career while showcasing material from Wild God, their latest and widely celebrated album. Joining the lineup are British songwriter Baxter Dury and Swedish composer and vocalist Anna von Hausswolff. Performing live Into My Arms and Where the Wild Roses Grow, the evening promises moments that will remain in our collective memory long after summer has passed.

Chris Issak Release Athens

Chris Isaak returns to Athens this summer for a special appearance at the City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre, bringing his unmistakable blend of rockabilly, romance and cinematic nostalgia to one of the city’s most atmospheric stages. With a career spanning more than four decades, the American singer-songwriter remains one of contemporary music’s most distinctive voices, known for timeless songs such as Wicked GameBlue Hotel and Somebody’s Crying. Open Air Cinema at SNFCC

For film lovers, Park Your Cinema 2026 returns to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), turning the Great Lawn into a magical open-air movie experience under the stars. Curated by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, this year’s theme, “Musicals under the Stars,” explores the timeless appeal of the musical genre through a selection of beloved classics and contemporary favourites. Alongside the main programme, the kid-friendly summer theme, “Carefree Holidays, Islands, and the Sea,” promises unforgettable cinema nights filled with adventure, laughter and nostalgic memories that will stay with younger viewers long after the credits roll. Must-see highlights include Grease(1978), Fame (1980), The Parent Trap (1998), and a spectacular Full Moon Film Marathon on Friday, August 28, dedicated to legendary director Stanley Kubrick.

SNF NOSTOS

A week of music, ideas and cultural exchange unfolds at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center this June, as SNF Nostos 2026 brings together artists, performers, innovators and thought leaders from around the world. Marking 30 years of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the festival presents a dynamic programme of concerts, discussions, exhibitions and interactive experiences designed to inspire curiosity and connection. This year’s edition features major live performances by David Byrne, Gorillaz and electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre, alongside a diverse programme exploring culture, technology, education and social impact. ERT National Symphony Orchestra – World Music Day

Marking both World Music Day and a significant moment in Athens’ cultural history, the ERT National Symphony Orchestra takes to the stage of the Odeon of Herodes Atticus for a special open-air concert as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival 2026. Before the iconic venue closes for an extensive restoration programme, audiences have one final opportunity to experience music beneath the stars in one of the world’s most remarkable ancient theatres. Metamorphosis

This show brings the emerging voices of the Greek National Opera’s Professional Dance School to the stage of the Stavros Niarchos Hall this June, in a performance that explores movement, transformation and artistic evolution through contemporary and neoclassical dance. Guided by Director of Studies Yorghos Matskaris, the production brings together a series of choreographic works by acclaimed international and Greek creators, offering young dancers the opportunity to showcase their talent across diverse artistic styles. From the elegance of classical influences to bold contemporary expression, Metamorphosis unfolds as a celebration of creativity, experimentation and the next generation of dance in Greece.

Lena Platonos-Maria Farantouri Concert

Moires brings together two iconic figures of Greek music, as electronic music pioneer Lena Platonos joins forces with the legendary Maria Farantouri for a world premiere at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Presented as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival’s Farewell Festivities, the performance draws inspiration from the works of ancient female poets, blending traditional Greek musical elements with Platonos’ distinctive electronic sound. The evening also marks the 45th anniversary of her groundbreaking album Sabotage, creating a unique encounter between poetry, memory and human experience

Fresh Faces

A new generation of artists steps into the spotlight this June with Fresh Faces, a group exhibition at ALMA Gallery showcasing six emerging graduates of the Master of Visual Arts programme at the Athens School of Fine Arts. Curated by Marios Spiliopoulos, the exhibition brings together six distinct artistic voices whose work reflects the uncertainties, challenges and shifting realities of contemporary life. Through diverse visual languages and highly personal approaches, the artists explore themes of identity, resilience and the human condition, offering thoughtful responses to the world around them. Rather than succumbing to pessimism, Fresh Faces presents art as a source of reflection, hope and creative resistance- inviting visitors to discover the perspectives of some of Greece’s most promising new talents.

Athens Pride 2026

A vibrant celebration of diversity, visibility and self-expression returns to the heart of the Greek capital this June as Athens Pride 2026 takes over Syntagma Square under the theme “It’s About You”. Bringing together thousands of participants, the annual festival transforms the city centre into a space of solidarity, celebration and collective expression through live performances, community events and the iconic Pride Parade. More than a colourful gathering, Athens Pride highlights stories of identity, equality and human rights, creating an atmosphere that is both empowering and uplifting.
