Aleka’s House is a traditional Pelion hideaway shaped by family, heritage, and decades of heartfelt hosting.
A family-owned business for more than 65 years, it began with Yiayia Aleka, continued through her business-savvy daughter Elena, and today lives on in the hands of Elena’s daughters, Vasiliki and Aleka- each generation adding its own touch while preserving the warmth that made this place special in the first place.
For me, it’s also deeply personal. I have the fondest memories of Aleka’s House from my first visit as a primary school student with my parents. With my mum also named Aleka, the name (and the feeling of this place) stayed with me ever since. Returning recently with my own family (my husband and daughter) it felt like coming full circle: the same village magic, the same comforting atmosphere, and the same sense that Pelion always knows how to welcome you back.

Lowdown
In the heart of Tsagarada, one of East Pelion’s most enchanting villages, Aleka’s House sits in a central neighbourhood, a five-minute walk away from the central square, surrounded by dense greenery and that signature Pelion atmosphere; fresh air, quiet paths, and timeless village feel. From its elevated position, the property opens up to sweeping Aegean views, making it an ideal base for travellers who want both nature and coastline within easy reach.
Details
Aleka’s House carries the soul of Pelion: traditional architecture with local stone features, a sense of history, and spaces that feel warm and inviting. It’s a classic mountain guesthouse with a strong identity- romantic, simple, and warmly lived-in. What truly sets it apart, however, is its reputation. Beyond being a place to sleep, it’s a place people travel to for the experience- especially for the dining, which has established Aleka’s House as a standout name in Tsagarada and the surrounding area.
Rooms
The rooms at Aleka’s House each have their own personality, with décor that ranges from soft, earthy tones to more grand traditional features, creating spaces that’s both cosy and characterful. Expect wooden hand-carved furniture, wooden roofs, authentic artwork on the walls that adds a distinctly local, lived-in charm.
In the Standard Double Room where we stayed, I particularly loved the small touches that elevated the comfort: a hydromassage feature that made evenings feel instantly more relaxing, and the thoughtful addition of Balmain shampoo and shower gel, a boutique detail that felt surprisingly luxurious in such a classic mountain setting.

Food + Drinks
The restaurant is one of Aleka’s House’s most celebrated features, known for high-quality Greek–Mediterranean cuisineand an approach that stays true to tradition. Open year-round, it offers a reassuring sense of consistency, whether you visit in spring when Pelion is lush and bright, or in winter when the mountain feels deeply cosy.
The menu highlights signature local flavours and beloved favourites, with dishes such as stuffed zucchini flowers, delicious homemade meatballs, pork with cardamom and a line-up of desserts worth saving room for, including chestnut mousse and orange pie. Meals here start casually and often end with, “Should we order one more thing to share?” And the cocktails, conceived by Vasiliki, are both delicious and refreshing.
Extra Touches
Then there’s breakfast: served in the garden, made of fresh, local ingredients, it feels almost magical. Surrounded by Pelion’s greenery and morning calm, it’s the perfect start to the day: unhurried, peaceful, and filled with that quiet joy you only find when you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
What makes Aleka’s House truly special is its hospitality, led by Aleka’s daughter Elena- an elegant woman who runs the place not just professionally, but from the heart. There’s a warmth in the way everything flows, a genuine care that can’t be staged, and hosting that makes you feel less like a guest and more like someone welcomed into a family story.
Breakfast is another highlight: served in the garden with fresh, local ingredients, it feels almost magical. Surrounded by Pelion’s greenery and morning calm, it’s the perfect start to the day- unhurried, peaceful, and filled with the quiet joy of being exactly where you’re meant to be.
