6th Contemporary Dance Festival “Compartments Dance Project”
Τhe “Compartments Dance Project” returns to the Train Theatre in Rouf for its sixth edition, inviting audiences to experience contemporary dance in an unconventional setting. OXI Day, October 28 Festivities
On October 28, Athens comes alive with the celebrations of OXI Day, the national holiday that commemorates Greece’s defiant “No” to Mussolini’s ultimatum in 1940. It’s a day of pride and remembrance marked by parades, music, and vibrant displays of tradition across the city. The highlight is the grand parade through the city centre, where thousands of students, school children, cultural clubs, and marching bands take to the streets in a powerful show of unity and heritage, beginning at 11:00am. Expect large crowds and road closures around the parade route, so arriving early is essential to secure a good spot. Beyond the spectacle, OXI Day offers an added treat for visitors: free entry to most of Athens’ archaeological sites and museums, making it the perfect occasion to soak in both the city’s modern spirit and its timeless history.
